Since 2013 we’ve been building our commercialization network, drawing on local, regional and national expertise. Our commercialization network, made up of volunteers ranging from experienced entrepreneurs to industry experts to investors, provides input to TLA experts as well as the innovation teams we work with to develop optimal pathways to bring inventions to the marketplace.
If you’re not a member of our network and would like to learn more about participating, contact us.

Through our Student Innovation Challenges, TLA has now funded a total of 15 student-led projects. Focused on helping entrepreneurial students advance their ideas from concept to prototype, we are proud that many of these teams have gone on to participate in the NSF I-Corps program. Some have advanced to become full-fledged student-led startups led by students who are pursuing exciting and impactful entrepreneurial career paths.

This year we had three cohorts – 28 teams – go through the NSF I-Corps Site Program. Of those, four have been acccepted into the National I-Corps program.
4 Mentors-In-Residence
We were fortunate to draw on the expertise of four smart and giving leaders who helped this year’s startups (listed with each) take flight.
Tech Launch Arizona mentors-in-residence (MIRs) accelerate the commercialization of UArizona technologies. They serve as employees of the University within our office to provide early-stage technology assessment, and to help transform those technologies into successful startup companies. MIRs partner with TLA licensing managers and university inventors to develop startup teams and go-to-market strategies, and to help prepare both assets and ventures for license.
