Despite advantages, including a large number of offspring and relatively short generation intervals, there have been limited improvements in growth and feed efficiency in aquatic production animal species. GenetiRate measures the metabolic rate of the egg to identify fast growing, feed efficient animals. By assessing growth in the egg we are able to select for growth early in the production chain and improve genetics for growth independent of food intake.
